We take snorkellers and divers out to the reef every day, but we can offer so much more!
We have had movie stars charter our boat due to its luxurious and comfortable setting. Underwater videographers, photographers and researchers rave about the large back deck, perfect for storing their equipment and working around technical gear. We also have a speedboat that enables us to access the shallow reef lagoons, coral cays and remote reefs. Families see us as an ideal fit due to our flexibility and ability to tailor our day to suit your needs. Fully Catered
All our private boat charters are fully catered. We offer nibbles and snacks throughout the day and spoil you with a scrumptious healthy lunch buffet featuring fresh local produce to cater a variety of tastes. We also serve soft drinks, water, tea and coffee.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available on request as well as any menu modifications due to food allergies.
We have a set buffet menu, however if you have something special in mind we are happy work with our chefs to serve you just the foods that you are craving for your special private boat charter day!
We also are licensed so we have a bar on board.

Privately owned and operated, Independence1 is a unique Port Douglas charter boat built for outer reef cruising.
This charter boat is a Steber 4800 Super Sedan built by the legendary and award winning team of Stebercraft based in New South Wales, Australia. These boat builders are renowned for building tough and strong boats and are the preferred choice by safety conscious water police and coastguards around Australia. The Steber 4800 Super Sedan has many legacies handed down from Stebercraft’s years of building commercial boats, is built to ISO9002 Quality Assurance Standards and rates as one if the best riding boats in its class. Its unique variable dead rise hull enables it to get on the plane quickly reaching a top speed in excess of 30 knots. Our cruising speed of 24 knots enables us to access any Outer Reef location comfortably and in a reasonable time.
16m long with an impressive 5m beam amidships ‘INDEPENDENCE 1′ is fully equipped with the latest safety, dive and snorkel equipment. She features an awesome 50sqm cockpit with table and seating, an enclosed toilet, outside shower and a spacious dinette with two fridges to make your charter boat day most enjoyable. The back deck is fully shaded to keep you safe from the fierce Queensland heat (and our tropical rain showers), there is plenty of seating, dive ladders and a rear platform to facilitate easy access to and from the water.
This charter boat is fully compliant and surveyed under the National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety (AMSA) and is licensed to carry up to 25 passengers and 4 crew for offshore operations.
When not being privately chartered, INDEPENDENCE 1 runs day trips and PADI dive courses to the Outer Great Barrier Reef from Port Douglas. Our vessel is fully equipped with everything you need for a great day, just bring your own towel, sunscreen, hat, camera and sense of adventure.
