Great Barrier Reef – Shared Boat Charter
If you feel like chartering a luxury boat for just your group is too costly then a shared charter is perfect for you. A shared charter on the Independence 1 enables you to visit the reef as a scuba diver or snorkeler with a maximum of 12 passengers, a very private group.
Shared Charters are operated by ABC Snorkel Charters on a daily basis and enable you to enjoy the Great Barrier Reef in a very small, relaxed group, a unique feature of our operation. Whether you are a family, a couple or a group of friends, a whole day shared charter to the best Great Barrier Reef locations will offer you an outstanding Great Barrier Reef experience at a fraction of the cost of private charter.

Great diving experience
My first trip to Australia and I definitely wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef. It was a great experience from start to finish: the pick-up from the local hotel, greeting upon boarding, the safety briefing, the briefing from the marine biologist, and the dives themselves. It was a welcoming crew: Paul, John, Lizzie, Wayne, and Simon. The sea life was incredible, and the dive masters were quite talented in discovering the hidden and petite treasures of the sea. Professional and top-notch from start to finish (thank you, Jay). I have no reservations in recommending them for snorkelers or divers.
Trip Advisor March 2018

Fully Equipped for Maximum Enjoyment
Being fully equipped for snorkelers and scuba divers alike makes a shared charter the perfect choice for a group with mixed activities, some of you may just want to snorkel, others might want to try an intro dive and maybe there are some seasoned divers in your group who want to explore the reef a bit deeper. We can cater for all of it.
As a unique feature of our operation we offer dive groups of maximum 4 divers per dive instructor. Intro divers and certified divers are dived in separate group to ensure you can enjoy the dive experience suited to your level.
Certified divers will be diving in groups of 4 with an experienced instructor, we’ll be doing three dives exploring the reef as deep as your certification allows you to go to.
Intro divers will receive tuition on the way to to the reef, and practicing essential skills before diving the reef. Intro diving is a great way to explore the reef a bit further but without having to go to the length of obtaining an Open Water Diver certification. it’s for everyone (subject to medical conditions)!
As a snorkeler you enjoy the exclusive service of a snorkel guide swimming along with you (if you wish) pointing out what the unseasoned eye might miss and educating you on our fascinating marine life here on the Great Barrier Reef. Our experienced crew will provide you with essential skills for first time snorkelers.
